Focus Comics Community Outreach event at San Diego Comic con 2021

Focus Comic had a community outreach event at San Diego Comic Con, the worlds largest and most prestigious comic cons globally. We ran 3 days of free comic art coloring workshops at our table where kids learned how to color Focus the autistic super hero using fun sensory friendly oil pastels.

We also had our two autistic interns Elias Gregoire and Hunter Campos at our table present their art in person to the public for the first time. They are one of the the first autistic comic artists to officially show their art at San Diego Comic con. This is a significant achievement for our project and cause in promoting autistic representation and talent within the comic industry. Many thanks to everyone who gave positive feedback to our interns at the event. The encouragement was invaluable in building their confidence as young artists. Our students enjoyed signing autographs at the show.

Yvonne Wan, the creator of Focus comic and Douglas Hebert, professional comic artist and certified art teacher promoted the comic, the project and autism acceptance during the event.

Many thanks to Yvonne Wan who is also a certified social cultural anthropologist for interviewing the public about the importance of autism awareness and acceptance and representation, inclusion and diversity at the show. Many thank to everyone for supporting us.
