The next new Focus comic summer camp project will start Aug 17 2019 in Phoenix.

The next class is a family project for families with autistic kids and young adults. Each family member will have the opportunity to make a clay handprint plaque bearing their name and the date of the hand print ceremony for free.

This family project is designed to provide autistic kids with a strong sense of self and identity through this handprint ceremony, in addition to creating a fun memory of their childhood with their family members. The material artifact would become a precious keepsake that they will treasure when they are older.

It will be a two part class. The first class is would involve the use of a slab roller and making the hand print within the clay. We will then allow the clay to dry for a week and then fire it in the kiln. It needs to be fired otherwise the clay will crumble. The second class (Aug 24) would be to collect the item to take home after it has been fired. Alternatively, the students have the option of glazing their plaque on August 24th. Students choosing to glaze their project will be required to attend the summer camp on the 31st August to pick up their project (Glazing the plaque would mean you would need to attend the art studio three times instead of twice).

Registration is now open for this new class.

The duration of the class will be approximately an hour depending on the family size.

Douglas Hebert, Professional Sculptor; Head artist and art internship coach for Focus comic will be teaching with Yvonne Wan, creator of Focus comic. Yvonne is also an award winning artist to. Mishy Katz will be assisting with the teaching also.

All art materials will be supplied free of charge to the students, and the firing of the projects and glazing will be free to. Complimentary drinks and snacks will be included.

Class starts at 1pm on both dates.

Completed projects will be photographed professionally in a photo booth so the kids can be proud of their art. Free photography provided courtesy of Yvonne Wan, the sole creator of Focus comic.

Autistic kids attending for the first time will receive a special gift bag upon completion of their first project.

Registration in advance is required so we can plan the correct resources per student. We anticipate this will be a popular class, so please register early to secure your place in class. Your place in class is only secured when Yvonne confirms it in writing.
